The original Religion

Is it possible that the human mind in some way reflects the workings of the universe that created it? Well, of course there are thought-processes and instincts that easily can be reduced to hands-on evolutionary conditions. But I'm thinking of more abstract ideas... Let's have a look at some pre-science ideas about reality, shall we?

- The Tao that can be trodden is not the enduring and unchanging Tao. The name that can be named is not the enduring and unchanging name. Conceived of as having no name, it is the originator of the heaven and earth, conceived as having a name; it is the Mother of all things.
                                                                                                                                                                                 Tao Te Ching

Remember now that this was written thousands of years before anyone had heard of the Big Bang!

- And as all things have been & arose from the one by the meditation of one; so all things have their birth from this one thing by adaptation.
                                                                                                                                                                       Tabula Smaragdina

Remember now that this was written thousands of years before anyone had heard of Darwin's theory of evolution in which it is shown how simple things can give rise to more and more complexity through adaptation!

I'm not saying that the human mind contains this information as a proof of Divinity or God - I'm just arguing that there seems to be traces of information about the universe and it's reality in our minds! The human embryo spends nine months in salted seawater in the womb, and for a short period of time also have gills and a tail; these are physical traces of our evolutionary processes in the development of an individual body. Is it too far a stretch to think that there are also informational traces in the development of the individual mind?

Certainly one can hardly sit in meditation and come up with the Schrödinger equation without the proper pre-knowledge of mathematics and physics, that's not what I'm saying. What I'm saying is that there seems to be symbolical or intuitive information that is uncannily close to what can later on be scientifically proven to be correct, regarding our known reality. I call this the original religion, or perhaps even better - the physical origin of all religions; the foundation of our awe and fascination of the reality.

This idea is in itself also not a new idea...

- That which is belowe is like that which is above & that which is above is like that which is belowe to do the miracles of the one only thing.
                                                                                                                                                                  Tabula Smaragdina

It is now also appropriate to raise the question about the nature of a universe that obviously produces minds, consciousness, an awareness of itself... The universe is reflected in the human mind, which in itself is a product of the universe.

There is no way around the fact that there are individual minds in this universe! Things normally happen for a reason - cause and effect - and even though the level of complexity leads to the assumption that consciousness were created out of chance or by a fluke - the fact remains; the known natural laws have produced conscious minds! The individual self; the experiencing subject is a fact. What does that say about the universe?

- The physical and Mental reality is one - it is up to the individual to overcome the illusion of separation.
                                                                                                                                                                   Sen Duir Sellaid (me)
